The Minuteman III is the third and final iteration of the Minuteman missile family. It was developed during the Cold War to improve upon the capabilities of its predecessor, the Minuteman II. The LGM-30G Minuteman III is a land-based, intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that forms the land-based component of the United States' nuclear triad, alongside strategic bombers and submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs).
