Heading out of turn two, the No. 12 of Ryan Blaney had the lead over the No. 8 of Busch and No. 99 of Suárez. As the field advanced into turn three, Busch made a move to the middle lane, resulting in the drivers having to battle three-wide for the final half of the lap.
