In the 32nd lap of the race, Schumacher missed the braking point before the turn and crashed into the rear of the Scuderia Toro Rosso race car, Jean-Eric Vergne. The stewards found Schumacher at fault for the accident and penalized him with a 10-place grid drop for the next race in Japan.
